On a hot summer evening in July of 1966, the black neighborhood of Hough erupted into flames and rioting, similar to the Watts rebellion riot. The site has since been resurrected with the construction of the award-winning, 277-unit $13 million Lexington Village complex. An obelisk reaches skyward at the site, a symbol of the neighborhood's rehabilitation.
